Okay!! It’s confirmed 60 is the new 30!  I witnessed it personally when I catered a Surprise 60th Birthday Party for one of the most admirable couples I’ve ever met.  Linda Hsueh & Alan Salz, both amazingly accomplished individuals in their own right, not only are successful physicians but have truly embraced their youthfulness every day as avid hikers, bicyclists, and winter sports enthusiasts.

This, of course, is paired with a healthy diet and a strong positive mindset. Their enthusiasm for life takes them all over the world together as passionate travelers, and they had just finished a trip to Madagascar before their kids surprised them with this birthday party.

As the caterer & party planner, I wanted something personal about them, something they loved to do… so I incorporated a somewhat outdoorsman theme by adding bicyclist sculptures and rich autumn colors to work with their personalities.      

Linda & Alan met each other in college and did their medical school, internship and residency together. Presently Alan runs his own ophthalmology business and Linda is a partner as a physician at the Summit Medical Group, and… I hear she is an amazing cook as well.  

Through most of their lives, they have done everything together including the celebration of their birthdays.  By saying they complement each other is an understatement. They magnify each other’s qualities simply by just being together.

As most of us aspire to be the best people we can be to live out our lives, Linda and Alan have accomplished this in a very short period of their 60 years.  As expressed by their son David, he knows them as incredibly charitable, generous beyond the call of duty and exuding thoughtfulness that any offspring could be proud of and work hard to emulate. 

They are indeed beautiful people internally & out and I was honored to have the opportunity to cater and be a part of their life celebration.  I give thanks to Sarah & David for trusting me with this significant milestone event! 

When I met with Sarah to view the venue and to achieve a more lucid understanding of the individuals being celebrated, it was stressed emphatically that several family members had food allergies to dairy and gluten and the menu needed to be carefully constructed to serve these needs.

When selecting their food choices it was up to Fallier Food to create a recipe for each appetizer that would accommodate everyone including the dairy and gluten free attendees. We also made sure everything was labeled on the food displays to inform the party guests. At the end of the day, I believe we pulled it off and everyone went home full and happy.  Please see the menu below.
